Jai ho everyone
Through my France trip my Indian political knowledge has just grown. All thanx to Ashok. So for the 1st time i actually followed the national elections of the world's largest democracy. From Varun Gandhi's hate speech to Advani 's and Manmohan Singh's verbal war it was really a interesting few months. And politics after all is not as boring as it seems.
The Congress with Dr Manmohan Singh as their Prime Ministerial Candidate and his counterpart in the BJP, Mr LK Advani slogged their ass out for just one thing, occupation of the residence at 7, Race Course Road.
It all came down to this morning, the final results and to everyone's surprise, Congress swept thru. The NDA could not hold its ground and it slipped off. The biggest surprise came with Left losing ground in their 2 strongholds, West Bengal and Kerela. May just be their end.
So the point to be discussed is what went wrong for the BJP and what went right for the Congress. On one side the hard work of youngsters in the Congress paid off. Be it Rahul or Priyanka Gandhi. Could this mean the return of Congress to its good old days. Or do u feel the NDA screwed up. I agreed that Mr LK Advani is a senior politician but do u feel that the country which saw the demolation of the Babri Masjid under his leadership would accept him as the head of the state. Personally for me to, I wouldnt have minded supporting BJP provided Mr Modi was their Prime Ministerial candidate. May be some others feel the same. Did the issue of Varun Gandhi's hate speech and their Hindutva concept not go down well with the younger generation? A question which BJP has to look into.
Another thing that i noticed is the loss of various big names who were a part of the Cabinet. Mani Shankar Aiyer, Renuka Choudhary, Ambika Soni all lost their way. Does this mean younger guys in the cabinet. Welcome on board Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Milind Deora. May this may be what the India of tomorrow requires.
Hey Ashok i know u will read this soon so i am sorry for the loss, there is always a next time and next time hope to see u there. U will be the prime ministerial candidate from IMT. And another thing Ashok, Thanx a million for raising my interest in politics. If it hadnt been for our discussions in France i would have never written this post on a topic i found very bugging and irritating, Indian Politics.
So before i end i would like to Congratulate all UPA supporters and those backing NDA, i would say is, never mind, better luck next time and my suggestion, push Narendra Modi for the top spot. It will help surely.
Jai Ho for now....
